I would love to see a system where every song and album can perform differently instead of releases following a predictable pattern.
After a song is released, it could develop different traits based on how it performs:
Sleeper Hit — starts slowly but grows over time.
Viral Hit — suddenly explodes because of a viral moment.
Slow Grower — gradually gains streams and popularity.
Instant Hit — performs strongly immediately.
Cult Favorite — not necessarily huge commercially but has strong fan reception.
Flop — underperforms despite expectations.
Word-of-Mouth Hit — grows mainly through organic popularity.
These traits could be hidden or revealed after the song has been out for a while, so you don’t always know how a release is going to perform.
I would also love for songs and albums to have different levels of commercial performance. Right now it feels like releases usually keep succeeding and often perform better than the previous one, which makes careers feel predictable. It would be more interesting if a release could flop, stay stable, become a Sleeper Hit, or massively outperform expectations depending on strategy and circumstances.
Another thing would be letting players choose the role of a track when creating an album:
Main track
Album track
Interlude
Intro
Outro
Skit
Bonus track
An Interlude could contribute more to the album’s cohesion or rating, but obviously wouldn’t be expected to get the same streams as a normal full-length song. This would make tracklists feel more meaningful instead of every song being treated the same commercially.
Basically, I’d love for releases to have more variety and unpredictability, where not every song becomes a hit and players can actually experience Flops, Sleeper Hits, surprise successes, Cult Favorites, etc.
I think this would make careers feel more realistic and less predictable while giving players more strategic decisions to make.
